Carmela Ramaglia has been acting professionally for nearly 20 years.
She was first “discovered” while roaming the streets of Florence, Italy.
Upon her return to the United States, she immediately signed with a talent
agency and began to book nearly every commercial for which she
auditioned. Thinking that her “luck” would only take her so far, Carmela
embarked on a long course of study to hone her skills.
She studied at Freehold Theatre, Seattle Actor's Lab, Northwest Actor's
Studio and Belltown Theatre Center. A graduate of the Meisner Actor's
Training Program and a resident artist at the award winning Belltown
Theatre Center, Carmela co-founded the Tenderfoote Theater
Company. During her tenure at Belltown Theatre Center she co-
produced and co-starred in several productions, most notably John
Patrick Shanley's Savage in Limbo, in which she played April White.
Being of Italian heritage, Carmela returns to Italy often. Her favorite
audition story is of a campaign for a European soft drink. Auditions were
held outside Florence and the room was filled with actors and models
from all over Europe. Carmela was the only American there. Ironically,
when the director saw her he immediately dismissed her exclaiming that
she looked “too Italian.”
Today Carmela focuses her energies on film work and has ventured into
the realm of producing. In addition to her creative endeavors, she stays
busy and fit with her studio Power Within Pilates.
